Indoor Meeting Areas
::The Chapel::
The Chapel is the largest building at Chrysalis. It is one of the original buildings at
the camp, with unique architecture dating back to the 1920’s. This building has a
fireplace, a hardwood floor, a large open area, and a stage at one end. It is used as a
multi-purpose and worship area by camp guests. The chapel is heated for winter use.
::The Classrooms::
These two rooms are located below the Chapel. Each of these little rooms is perfect for
small groups and has its own bathroom. These rooms are heated for winter use.
::The “Cocoon” ::
The Cocoon is the camp store, but when the store is closed, this area below the Chapel
can be used as a small group meeting room. It is heated for winter use.
The Dining Hall
The Dining Hall is a large brick building right in the heart of all camp activity. If
needed, it can hold up to 180 persons for dining or meeting. A large semi-covered deck
is attached to the Dining Hall, complete with a fire ring. The deck makes for a perfect
place for breakout meeting areas or outdoor meals.
::Promise Cabin Gathering Room ::
For groups staying in the Promise Cabin, there is a comfortable central gathering area between the sleeping rooms. This room can be set up as a living room with couches and chairs, as a meeting room with tables and chairs, depending on the needs of your group.
::Luke’s Place::
Luke’s Place has two accessible meeting areas. The educational meeting room side
comfortably suits up to 40 people and is geared toward adult needs. The summer
infirmary side can be used for small group breakout space.
Outdoor Meeting Areas
There are numerous places for groups to meet outdoors and we encourage all guests to use
these as much as possible and to search out and discover their own special places. The
sites listed below have seating of some sort available for groups.
::The Dining Hall Deck and Fire Ring::
This area, attached to the Dining Hall, is an easy place to gather groups and have
the convenience of tables while still in the outdoors. Even large groups can be
easily accomodated here.
::The Cross Chapel::
This fire ring, located near the A-frames, allows for a beautiful view of the bluff
on bench seating.
::The Fire Ring::
The main fire ring is located in the far corner of the property near the creek. It
is suitable for small to very large group outdoor gatherings on bench seating.
::The Outdoor Chapel::
The outdoor chapel, one of the largest outdoor meeting places, is located by the creek
and picnic area. Its amphitheater style seating makes it ideal for small to very large
group gatherings.
::The Picnic Area::
Spread alongside the creekside, numerous picnic tables can hold up to 150 people.
The tables can be arranged to fit the needs of your group.
::Luke’s Place Porch ::
Luke’ Place has a large shaded porch with rocking chairs and benches that can be used for small group gatherings.
::Cabin Porches::
The Promise Cabin and the A-Frames have attached porches and decks that may be used by
groups housed in them.
::The Tree Chapel::
The tree chapel is a naturally growing meeting space. Small groups can walk into the
shelter provided by a spreading oak and sit on its horizontal branches.
::On the Bluff::
On the bluff there are multiple small meeting areas, most with benches available.
Follow the trail signs to sites spread throughout the bluff all the way to the large
cross on the hilltop. Our staff can help you to find the way to one of these special
places.
::Sports Court::
Chrysalis’ Sports Court has a shaded, full size basketball court that is an ideal large group outdoor meeting space.
