The greatness and awesomeness of God is often revealed through people in various settings in our world. Cross Trails Ministry is a special opportunity to grow our children in the word and ways of our Lord as well as offering excellent spiritual programs for young and older adults in a happy and divine atmosphere. Many times the result will change one's life forever; in the betterment of growing God's kingdom. The opportunity to make an impact of this nature by enhancing the facilities of our camps is what this campaign is all about. I honestly believe we are past due in this effort! What makes it all so very exciting is that we are at this place and at this juncture today. At this moment we all have the opportunity in front of us to continue to make a difference! There is excitement in the air --- grab hold!

After nearly 3 years of planning, Cross Trails Ministry is prepared to launch a capital campaign to raise $1.5 million to improve and expand facilities at our camp sites. Beginning in 2002 with the development of a master plan, followed by a feasibility study conducted in 2003, the Board of Cross Trails voted unanimously to seek the support of the congregations of the Synod at the Assembly in May, 2004. Acknowledging the financial stability and strong programs established during these years of ownership by the congregations of the synod, the delegates to the Assembly gave overwhelming approval to move ahead with this vision. The members of the Board urge you to join us in this venture so that "A Legacy of Promise" will ensure that all ages can continue to benefit from the experiences that camping ministry provides in relationship with Christ and with others.


Bishop Ray Tiemann – Bishop of the Southwestern Texas Synod

Many ministries in the church help change people's lives, but the camping ministry uniquely touches youth and adults who experience their faith in a special way. In outdoor settings under the stars and around a campfire, the Creator blesses people with faith relationships that burn brightly. From those experiences strong lay leaders and rostered leaders are born. This is the importance of camping in the life of the church, and I invite you to support this ministry with your prayers and your special gifts to this campaign. As partners together, we participate as instruments of God's love so that we may be better equipped for ministry in this synod.
