Cross Trails Ministry provides a number of retreats for youth, adults, and families to spend time at camp all year round! Programmed retreats give you the opportunity to come and relax at Camp Chrysalis and Ebert Ranch. In addition to retreats at the camp sites, Cross Trails can come to your congregation with the “Cross Trails Comes to You” program. Take a look at the descriptions of our retreats and programs below.

Registration Instructions
Registration is pretty easy. You can either register online or just download the registration form, fill it out and send it back to us one of these ways. You can:

Cross Trails Camp Homecoming – A Roller Disco Homecoming
For High School Students
Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 5:15-8:30 p.m.
Get into your funky clothes and join us for a unique kind of home coming dance! Meet up with camp friends or come to make new ones! Come dressed in old homecoming attire or your best 70’s costumes. Homecoming King and Queen will be decided based on “best dressed”. Reconnect with other Chrysalis or Ebert campers and staff, and bring your friends who didn’t have a chance to come to camp. Then dance and skate the night away! Meet at Zion, Helotes for pre-homecoming activities and we’ll ride together to the event.
Early Bird Fee: $10
After October 21: Fees increase to $15
Upper Elementary Advent Retreat – Away in a Manger
Youth in Grades 3-6
December 3 or December 2-3, 2011 at Chrysalis
Great things come in small packages! Jesus was born in a lowly manger but saved the world. Through Advent focused Bible studies, games, camp activities and crafts you will discover how Christ came to us in an unexpected way and gave hope to the world!
Come for the day and experience all of the above! December 3rd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch is included.
Early Bird Saturday Only Fee: Youth $15, Adults $5 for lunch
Arrive Friday evening to stay overnight and enjoy all of the above and a campfire with s’mores, night games, breakfast and morning camp activities! Youth can stay with adult sponsors your church provides or with a camp staff member!
Early Bird Overnight Fee: Youth $25
Youth can stay with a camp staff member for an additional $10 Adult Sponsors staying with Youth: $10
Adults not staying with Youth: $25
After November 18th overnight fees increase by $10 per person and day fees increase by $5 per person
Upper Elementary Advent Day Retreats

These retreats will explore the same themes in a shorter day event. All day retreats will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Victoria/Coastal Bend Area – December 4—St. Mark’s, Cuero

Upper Elementary Lenten Retreat – Cheers and Tears

Youth in Grades 3-6
March 3 or March 2-3, 2012 at Chrysalis
A lot can happen in a week! From being greeted with palm branches and hosannas to being crucified on the cross, experience the joys and sadness of the Lenten season. Explore the days leading up to Jesus’ death between Palm Sunday and Easter through Bible study, crafts, and exciting camp activities!
Come for the day and experience all of the above! March 3rd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch is included.

Tour de Texas A la Carte

For High School and Middle School Students
March 12-16 – Spring Break!
Choose to do the whole week or just one or two days!
- Monday – Ebert Ranch Day
Enjoy ranch activities like horseback riding, outdoor cooking and more!
- Tuesday – Enchanted Rock Day
Hike the rock and explore the local area!
- Wednesday – San Marcos River
Join us on a kayak trip on the river!
- Thursday – San Antonio Urban Plunge
Enjoy an urban scavenger hunt followed by an afternoon of service!
- Friday – Chrysalis Day
Choose from a variety of camp activities and enjoy a day of camp fun!
Day Events start at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Participate in all events for $150 including overnight stays at camp, meals and transportation.
Participate in individual days for $25 per day per youth or adult, including one meal and necessary transportation
Overnight stays between consecutive days include dinner and breakfast the following day for $25
Individual youth are welcome to attend day events. Congregations must provide adult supervision for overnight stays
Cross Trails Cuppie

Grades 9-12
April 13-14, 2012 at Camp Chrysalis
Whether you are a seasoned camp veteran or a rookie to camp, the 2nd Annual Cross Trails Cuppie is sure to challenge you. Come to the Camp Chrysalis to compete in obscure camp events
and then have a fun filled day of hiking, climbing, canoeing, and more. Worship will round out a great weekend for this High School only retreat. Get bragging rights for the entire year as your team challenges others.
Stay with a college-aged sponsor or come with your youth group!

Costa Rica Mission Trip
For High School Students
July 1-10, 2012
Join us for the journey of a lifetime! This trip is geared for high school students who are ready to immerse themselves in a whole new culture. Travel to Costa Rica to meet other youth, learn how their faith shapes their world and explore from the city to the rain forest. Informational materials will be available end of October from our office. Space is limited.

Wine and the Word

For Adults over 21
October 7-9, 2011 at Chrysalis
What makes “good wine”? Have this question and more answered as we learn from a wine steward, and then focus on the “Good Wine” at the wedding in Canaan. Then we’ll visit three Fredericksburg wineries to test our skills. Come with a friend, spouse or on your own. Housing will be two people per cabin. Explore your palette and your faith, and let the tastings begin.

Ashes and Stars
For Adults
February 22-24, 2012 at Camp Chrysalis
Have you ever wondered about “who we are” and “what is our place in the universe”? At this retreat, we’ll gather under the stars each evening to see the glory of God’s heavens first hand, hear lectures on faith and string theory from noted expert Prof. Gerald Cleaver, and participate in Bible studies aimed at recapturing the sense of wonder the Ancient Israelites had when they gazed upon the night sky. Bring your telescope if you have one, or mingle with those that do. Ashes and Stars is an opportunity to witness how faith and science can come together to paint a more vivid image of God’s glory.

Creation Care Retreat
For Adults
March 30-April 1, 2012 at Ebert Ranch Camp
Explore the ecology of Ebert Ranch! We’ll look at how we work to be in sync with the land, as well as the Biblical imperatives driving us to do so. Time will be spent preparing the garden for the spring and other eco-related projects. Learn about practical, environmental care in Southwestern Texas while exploring the beauty of our Texas ranch setting.

Women’s Craft Retreat

For Adult Women
April 20-22, 2012 at Camp Chrysalis
There is always something new to learn so that your craft room can grow even larger. Come spend some time at Camp Chrysalis to slow down, relax, and enjoy the serenity of this place. Whether you decide to take it easy or craft all weekend, know that delicious food, welcoming staff, and some pampering await your arrival and stay. Sign up for two or three crafts for the weekend. All materials are included in the craft fees except you need to bring t-shirts and a sewing machine for t-shirt quilting.

Women’s Big R
For Adult Women
July 18-21, 2012 at Camp Chrysalis
Whether this is your first time or you’ve been coming since the beginning, Women’s Big R has been a great retreat for more than 25 years. Join us as we Rest, Relax, and Rejuvenate in the Texas Hill Country. Choose from a variety of activities, pamper yourself with delicious meals, and spend an evening enjoying a Hill Country theater production. Big R is the retreat you’ve been waiting for!

Mother Daughter Retreat – Harvest Time

For daughters in grades 5-8 and their mothers
October 14-16, 2011 at Ebert Ranch
Fall is a time of transition, and so is middle school! Celebrate Fall and the changes in your mother-daughter relationship as you grow together into the future. Choose from camp activities like creative crafts, horseback riding, nature walks, the ropes course, gardening or just some down time together! Then explore what the Bible has to say about life changes in camp-style Bible studies and worships. Great food and friends will help you make memories that last a lifetime!

Family Advent Festival Retreat – Angels We Have Heard on High
November 25-27, 2011 and December 9-11, 2011 at Camp Chrysalis
Two weekends offered: November 25-27, 2011 and December 9-11, 2011 at Camp Chrysalis
Angels were a big part of the Advent story, both in preparing Mary & Joseph and in welcoming the new Christ into the world. Come with your family to prepare for the Advent season and welcome Jesus anew. Each family will have the opportunity
to create their own gingerbread house, as well as make crafts, hike, play games, enjoy family time, and participate in winter camp activities. Each family will be have their own cabin with a private bathroom.
Early Bird Cost: Adults and Youth in Grades 7-12: $100, Youth in Grades K-6: $75, Preschool: Free

Mother-Daughter Retreat – Family Stories
For daughters in grades 9-12 and their mothers
February 3-5, 2012 at Ebert Ranch Camp
Every family has stories. Our memories of important times, both joyful and painful, make us into who we are today. Explore the stories of biblical characters who came to be shaped by their own remembering. Explore your own family stories and grow together in relationship. This will be a weekend of fun and memories as you try your choice of camp activities, like crafts, horseback riding, ropes, singing and special mother daughter selections. Make memories that will last a lifetime!

The “Dangerous” Retreat for Boys and Their Dads

For boys in grades 4-6 and their fathers
February 24-26, 2012 at Ebert Ranch Camp
Come to Ebert Ranch for a weekend of “dangerous” activities. Try such things as fire building, archery, slingshots, survival shelter construction, carving and more! Even our father/son Bible study will explore what it means to have “dangerous” faith. It will be a weekend of playful fun you will never forget!

Family Spring Retreat – Our Master Gardener
For families
March 16-18, 2012 at Chrysalis
Scattered along the path, the rocky soil, the thorns, or on the good soil, Jesus tells us the implications of where we are sown. Through family bonding, crafts, bible study,
worship, and camp activities your family will learn how to reap a healthy crop. Join us for a family retreat to cultivate your family relationships in a fun and faithful way.

Cross Trails Comes to you gives your congregation the chance to experience a programmed retreat in the comforts of your own church! Cross Trails will provide the materials and curriculum for a retreat of your choosing. Programs must have a minimum of two churches and 25 participants.
