    What To Expect

    Christian Growth

In Cross Trails Ministry summer camps, campers and leaders come together to share unique experiences in Christian community. Interactive Bible study and worship are a part of each day. Campers play, explore and discover a deeper, personal faith while forming friendships, and developing skills that last a lifetime. Each small camper group is assigned a counselor and a “partner” camper group in the same age group, who together are called a village at Chrysalis and a herd at Ebert Ranch. This group works together to plan their days, serve others in camp, and learn to live as a small community. This system helps campers make deeper connections with their peers and gives them a sense of belonging in the larger camp community.

Fun Camp Activities for All Ages

Campers attend our camp programs for years and always find something new!

At all sites, all campers can participate in activities like: swimming, slingshots, hiking, campfire and s’mores, gaga ball, field games, lawn games, nature studies, water games, arts and crafts, interest groups, shopping at the camp store, as well as daily worship and Bible study.

At Camp Chrysalis, all campers can swim in the creek, go fishing, and hike to the small cross. Starting with the Explorers program, campers can hike to the big cross, canoe, shoot archery, and make pottery. Starting with the Yearlings program, campers can plan worship, participate in woodcarving, try teambuilding activities, and go on the giant swing. Starting with the Adventurers/Confirmation programs, campers can use stand-up paddle boards, participate in night activities, and go on the climbing tower and zipline. Campers in the Extreme Adventurer program can also participate in a bluff sleep out, kayak on a local river, and try more high ropes activities. Starting with the LYLE program, campers can participate in leadership sessions.

At Ebert Ranch, all campers can ride horses, shoot archery, plan worship, participate in team building activities, sleep outside for a night, cook a meal on the campfire, and go on the zipline. Those in Confirmation, What Does this Mean? Confirmation, and Vaqueros, can participate in high ropes, hatchet throwing, learn to ride at a trot, and sleep at our primitive Outcamp site for a night. Wrangler Campers can learn to ride at a lope and go on an overnight trail ride. Lutheran Youth Leadership Experience II & III (LYLE) campers can participate in special night activities, go on a one day river trip, participate in leadership sessions and have weekend activity options.

    Daily Schedule

A typical day at one of our sites includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a snack, morning and evening worship, one hour of Bible study, four to six activities that campers choose as a village or herd group, and an all-camp game or activity. Campers wrap up their day with a small group devotion. One or more staff members live with each camper group, helping campers get ready for the day and wind down for bed.

    College-Age Staff

Our counselor staff are college-age, enthusiastic Christian role models for young people. They undergo an extensive application process and background check before participating in our in-depth staff training. Campers are supervised by staff throughout the camp day. If a camper ever needs to leave their group, they always travel in pairs or trios.

    ACA Accreditation and Safety

Camp Chrysalis and Ebert Ranch Camp are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). This is the highest standard for safety and risk management found in camps. ACA Accreditation standards include guidelines on screening and covering staff, training staff, facilities, healthcare procedures, and programming. We take great care in preparing emergency plans and training our staff to respond in any situation and mitigate risk.

Affordable Camps and Financial Aid “Camperships”

We strive to keep our prices as affordable as possible. Thanks to generous donors, the fees only cover about 70% of the cost of camp. We also provide financial aid “Camperships” to campers whose families cannot afford the full fee. Don’t let anyone miss out on camp because of the cost!
